In 2005 the Columbus Museum of Art acquired the Philip J. and Suzanne Schiller Collection of American Social Commentary Art, 1930 – 1970.
When added to the Museum’s already outstanding collection of twentieth-century American art that includes the landmark Photo League Collection, the Schiller Collection helped create one of the most significant bodies of art concerned with social commentary in the country.
These works vividly address complex problems and issues in recent American history, culture, and society. They also serve as a springboard for confronting issues that continue to face America today.
This website is intended to promote dialogue and learning about these critical issues utilizing works of art from the Columbus Museum of Art.
