The Rise of Fascism

Fascism

by Harry Sternberg

Featured in the 1943 Artists for Victory print exhibition, “America in the War,” Fascism’s primary figure is a three headed monster, showing the faces of Mussolini, Hitler, and Hirohito

The monster stomps across a war-destroyed landscape, crushing religious and intellectual symbols under its feet as fires burn in the background.  Sternberg’s condemnation of fascism earned him an honorable mention in the serigraphy division of the exhibition.
